~ The word ‘Love’ is thrown around with such ease it often seems like flickering confetti …tossed, scattering and falling where it may. But Love is such a complex word. I believe there are so many types of love that one cannot define such a small word by some rhyming ….cheesy verse in a greeting card or that which some self help book informs us of ‘This is what love should be‘. Love by nature is so different for every single individual soul…every single heart. Love cannot be defined and its rules etched in stone…. because it is infinite in its possibilities.
For me there is that heart stopping love, that passion one feels for a soul mate …lover …partner. That person whom you cannot look upon without smiling. That person who has your blood heated to boiling point by a certain glance…their voice. That person who inspires you to walk a little taller, dance even when there is no music. Ultimately they become your home. The true north on your compass. No matter where you are or what litters your day with hectic fervour ….they are there……resting just north of nowhere, but everywhere at once.
Then there is that love reserved for true friends. Those people who inspire us with their essence…..their actions…their spirit. They have an ability to open our minds and our hearts and make our lives just a little bit sweeter and extraordinary …simply by their presence.
And of course there is that love that encompasses family. The love of a parent for a child and vice versa .Children are created such innocents…and that first time one holds them in your arms is truly the most incredible experience on earth. To look into this face, all wrinkled and raw from their journey into the world. It`s that moment of utter amazement….emotion and limitless love. Perfection with the sweetest scent imaginable.
Love …it weaves its way into our lives. Such an intricate tapestry of so many colours. Without these silken threads life would be plain fabric. Starched and unmoving. A tangled spiralling ….abstract creation of swirling colours and never ending spools of thread is what keeps us alive. It is just as vital as breath itself. The need to breathe…. and weave <3 ~
(I wrote this two years ago on Valentines Day ….but thought I`d share it here. ~K~ )
